Economic Development

Alderville Economic Development is a key department within the Administration of Alderville First Nation, dedicated to fostering long-term community prosperity and economic growth. The department is currently staffed by two full-time team members, Olivia English, Economic Development Manager and Robin Peterson, Development & Training Coordinator, who both lead the development, coordination, and advancement of economic opportunities for Alderville and its members.

The Economic Development department plays a dual role: it initiates and leads projects that directly support Alderville’s economic future, while also providing guidance and support for external or community-led initiatives that may impact the First Nation. This includes reviewing opportunities, offering strategic recommendations, and ensuring that all economic activities align with Alderville’s values, interests, and long-term vision.

Core priorities for the department include:

Business Development: Supporting both community-owned ventures and privately owned member businesses through planning, mentorship, partnership development, and resource navigation.

Employment: Identifying and promoting job opportunities for Alderville members, working with local industry partners, and contributing to workforce development initiatives.

Education & Training: Facilitating access to skills training, certifications, and learning pathways that support career growth for community members.

Community Promotion: Showcasing Alderville First Nation’s strengths, opportunities, culture, and identity to attract investment, partnerships, tourism, and economic opportunities that benefit the community.

Through these priorities, the Economic Development department works to strengthen Alderville’s economic resilience, support local entrepreneurship, and create meaningful opportunities for current and future generations
