The post-secondary application deadline is approaching!
Are you an Alderville band member considering applying to college or university to begin or continue a post secondary program?
There is an opportunity to apply for funding by May, each year.
- The Alderville First Nation Post-Secondary policy requires that you apply in person unless you reside more than 300 km. from Alderville.
- New applicants must provide a letter of acceptance from the college or university by the application deadline.
- Continuing students are required to provide their final Grade Report by the application deadline.
Late applications are not considered.

The post-secondary budget is limited and sometimes there isn’t sufficient funding to approve all of the applicants. The Alderville First Nation Post-Secondary Policy contains the following priority categories pending sufficient funding is available:
Priority Categories
The student’s Application for Educational Assistance will be considered for funding according to the following priority categories:
3.1 Students who graduate from high school during the preceding academic year and are beginning a post-secondary program of studies. (This includes high school graduates who complete one or two additional semesters during the preceding year immediately following high school graduation.)
3.2 Full-time students enrolled in post-secondary studies for the first time that completed all of their courses successfully with a passing grade as defined by the educational institution and are continuing in the same program of studies.
3.3 Persons applying to begin either part-time or full-time post-secondary studies for the first time.
3.4 Full-time students possessing a college diploma or university degree who are enrolled in post-secondary studies, have achieved, a passing grade as defined by the educational institution and are continuing in the same program of studies.
3.5 Part-time students who are enrolled in a post-secondary program of studies, have successfully completed their course/courses with a passing grade as defined by the educational institution and are continuing in the same program of studies.
3.6 Students who previously graduated with a college diploma or university degree and are continuing on to begin a new program of studies on a full-time basis.
3.7 Persons possessing a college diploma or university degree who are beginning a new post-secondary program of studies on a part-time basis.
3.8 Persons who were previously funded by Alderville First Nation who were unsuccessful or withdrew, and failed to provide a Medical Form (please see page 15) completed by a Medical doctor, Psychologist, or Psychiatrist at the time of the medical problem which includes reference to a thorough examination, diagnosis, as well as medical follow up or similar documentation. Persons in this category will be required to wait one year before reapplying. The applicant may be considered only if documentation is provided that is acceptable to the Education Committee. The applicant must also submit a letter explaining why they were previously unsuccessful and why they think they will be successful this time. In the event that a student applies and there is insufficient funding they can reapply; Applicants will only receive category 3.8 approval once.
