Daycare Philosophy

The philosophy of the Alderville First Nation Daycare Centre is to provide the child with a safe, secure and stimulating environment. This environment is designated to motivate the child to learn and develop through discovery.

The Centre staff is committed to:

  • Enhancing cultural awareness, interwoven throughout daily activities and into every aspect of the Centre

  • Establishing, maintaining and encouraging open and honest discussions between staff and parents to ensure the needs of each child and the family are fully met in the most practical manner possible

The belief that play serves as a significant mode of learning for young children while providing opportunities that will stimulate:

  • curiosity, initiative and independence
  • self-esteem and decision making abilities
  • interaction with, and respect for, others
  • physical activity that develops gross motor skills
  • communication skills and fine motor development
  • creative expression
  • an understanding of, and respect for, native culture
  • an understanding of, and respect for, all of creations
